Affiliate Disclosure

How affiliate links work here. What we promise. What we won’t do.

The Disclosure

Memento Mori Gaming participates in affiliate programs. The retailers we link to include Amazon Associates, Best Buy, Newegg, B&H Photo, Razer, Elgato, AVerMedia, SteelSeries, and the manufacturer-direct programs of brands we cover. When you click an affiliate link on this site and complete a purchase, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

This commission funds the editorial side of the site: hardware testing, capture-card rigs, monitor calibration tools, the time it takes to write a 4,000-word roundup. Without affiliate revenue, the site would have to run display ads or take sponsored content. We don't, and we won't.

Affiliate links are marked. Every recommendation that earns us a commission shows the retailer name in monospace caps after the link, e.g., “↗ AMAZON”, “↗ BEST BUY”. The link itself uses rel=“sponsored nofollow noopener” so search engines and screen readers know what it is.

The Promise

Affiliate revenue does not influence what we recommend. We've turned down better commissions on worse hardware on principle. We've kept worse-paying retailer links because the customer service is better. The hardware we recommend is hardware we'd buy with our own money — and in most cases already have.

There is no pay-for-placement. Manufacturers cannot purchase a positive review, a higher tier ranking, or inclusion in a roundup. Brands that have asked us to do these things have been declined, and they know why.

When a product changes — firmware regression, supply-chain shift, a manufacturer pulling something on their warranty terms — we update the article. If the change is bad enough, we'll write a separate piece about it. The Codex moves with the truth, not with the affiliate calendar.

The Boundaries

We do not link to gray-market key sellers, regional discount account sites, or any other distribution channel that screws over the developer or the customer. The dollar isn't worth the trade.

We do not promote gambling, predatory mobile games, gacha mechanics aimed at minors, or anything else that monetizes through user exploitation. If a partner program offers commissions on these, we say no. There is no exception for size of commission.

We do not write sponsored content. If we ever do, it will be marked unmistakably with “Sponsored” in display type at the top of the article, separate from any affiliate disclosures, and we'll explain who paid and what we agreed to. As of writing, we have run zero sponsored articles.

If We Get It Wrong

Email corrections@mementomorigaming.com if you spot a recommendation that has aged badly, an affiliate link that goes somewhere unexpected, or a manufacturer claim we should have caught and didn't. We answer corrections faster than press inquiries — they matter more.

Memento Mori Apparel

Affiliate revenue funds the editorial. The streetwear funds itself. Both are run by the same hand, with the same standard.
