Most TH16 attackers are running Root Rider Hydra: Riders with Healers + Heal Spells produce a self-sustaining push that's difficult to stop without a clean Inferno triangle.
Hydra mechanics
3 Riders + 4 Healers tanked into the strong-side compartment with Rage support clear the core in a single push. Backed by Hogs or Miners for cleanup. Demands a careful funnel — bad funneling sends the Hydra around the base perimeter, wasting time.
Lalo Classic
Still viable. Best against bases without centralized Air Defenses or with weak compartments around the back third. Win rate stays high (70%) but pick rate has fallen as Hydra eats into the user base.
Where Yeti went
Most TH16 mains have transitioned off Yeti to Hydra or stayed on Lalo. Yeti remains a viable pick in lower leagues but won't surface in CWL play this cycle.
The TH16-to-TH17 transition for top players is well underway. Expect TH16 attacks to keep declining in CWL participation as upgrade timers complete.
